They are known for their emphasis on study and intellectual pursuits, as well as their itinerant lifestyle, often moving to different locations for their preaching missions. **

A chapter member in a Benedictine monastery is typically a monk who has taken solemn vows and is fully committed to the monastic life. They participate in the daily rhythm of prayer, work, and study within the monastery, and they also have a role in the governance and decision-making processes of the community. Chapter members gather regularly in a meeting called the chapter, where they discuss important matters related to the monastery and make decisions that affect the community as a whole. This role is an important part of the communal and hierarchical structure of a Benedictine monastery. **
